  • This wall for a bulk material box was constructed from modules formed using the NOEplast masonry texture "Murus Romanus". The end walls were also constructed in masonry texture concrete.

  • The NOEplast masonry texture "Murus Romanus" resembles a dry stone wall. This texture is designed to allow corner and end blocks to have a textured finished too.

  • After completion, only an expert would notice that it is a concrete and not a hard-fired brick wall. This was created with the NOEplast masonry texture "Berlin".

Walls built from interlocking blocks

NOEplast textured formliners lend aesthetic  interest to "varioWand" concrete surfaces

With the "varioWand" walling system, brought onto the market by RUZ-Mineralik GmbH, Heilbronn, interlocking precast wall units are placed one on top of the other, like Lego blocks. To add some aesthetic interest, RUZ-Mineralik NOEplast uses textured formliners manufactured by NOE-Schaltechnik, Süssen, to form the surfaces of the individual elements.

The textured formliners generally used here are those that particularly enhance the architecture of the building or structure. They are also often used for the construction of retaining and noise protection walls. The manufacturer, RUZ-Mineralik from Heilbronn, has found another role for them: to form the surfaces for his newly introduced "varioWand" walling.

"varioWand" - for slope stabilisation, visual and noise barriers, bulk material boxes ...

The system is based on precast concrete units, which are placed one on top of the other, like Lego blocks. They are used to build slope stabilisation structures, industrial bulk material boxes, and visual and noise barriers. A more visually appealing alternative to gabions and concrete blockwork walls, they are also used for garden landscaping. The elements have a width of 60 cm and are 55 cm high. Their length varies from 2.55 m down to 60 cm. RUZ-Mineralik GmbH supplies them in concrete grey or adds colour to the visible surfaces with the help of red, yellow, brown or black pigments to suit the customer's individual wishes. In order to meet the design requirements of its customers, RUZ-Mineralik offers wall elements with different surface textures. In this way, for example, the look of a coursed masonry wall characteristically found in vineyards can be created on a wall formed using the NOEplast texture "Murus Romanus". A wall formed using the NOEplast texture "Granite" resembles the surface texture of a hand-dressed piece of granite. And with the NOEplast texture "Berlin", the formed walls could easily be mistaken for a hard-fired brick wall. On request, RUZ-Mineralik can supply the precast units with a wide range of other surfaces.

NOEplast

All this is possible because RUZ-Mineralik forms the surfaces of the concrete units with NOEplast textured formliners. They are manufactured by NOE-Schaltechnik specifically for creating fair-faced, exposed concrete surfaces and are particularly noted for their ease of handling and use. It does not matter whether the formliners are used in the precasting factory – as they are at RUZ-Mineralik – or out on site. The only difference this makes is that the formliner has to be well fixed to the form facing on site, while in the precasting works, it is enough just to place it in the form. Then the concrete is poured into the formwork. As soon as the concrete has hardened sufficiently, the formliners can be removed and the texture revealed.

Maximum service

To make the task even more convenient for the customer, NOE-Schaltechnik offers a special service: on request, NOEplast textured formliners can be attached to a supporting board or a system formwork component. Hence this provides a quick and easy way of giving a concrete surface an attractive texture. One big advantage of NOEplast is that it can be reused up to 100 times. The textured formliners require only to be cleaned before reuse and, if necessary, coated with a release agent. NOE-Schaltechnik has about 100 different textures in its standard range. Some of them have the look of bush-hammered concrete, different sizes of leaves or timber boards laid in the formwork panel. For the eventuality that, despite the huge choice of relief patterns, the customer would like something different, NOE also offers the option of having the customer's individual ideas expressed in concrete. Thus RUZ-Mineralik GmbH is able to offer precast units with surface textures that fulfil the customer's precise wishes. The company has benefited from NOE's pool of experience with a wide range of NOEplast surfaces in the construction of noise protection walls. After considering all these advantages, RUZ-Mineralik decided to use NOE-Schaltechnik. One reason for this decision was the service and quality to be expected from NOEplast. In fact, NOE has been supplying formliners for a wide range of structures all over the world for more than 40 years, and has always placed great emphasis on providing individualised customer advice.
